Moira Smiley
Moira Smiley works internationally as a composer, singer and teacher of new, folk and early music. Currently based in Los Angeles, she tours with her vocal ensemble, appears regularly as a guest soloist with various ensembles, and creates new music for dance, theatre and film. Originally from Vermont, she studied piano performance, ethnomusicology and early music vocal performance at Indiana University School of Music. She’s won countless awards for her singing, writing and teaching, was featured in Lincoln Center’s “Great Performers” Series, nationally on NPR and CBC Radio, and on Festival mainstages across the U.S., Canada and UK. Her voice can be heard in numerous film & tv soundtracks, including Sir David Attenborough’s “Life of Birds” on BBC.
