Thank you to more than sixty volunteers who helped to make Festival of Voices 2010 such a success.
The Festival of Voices is Tasmania's leading winter arts event. In 2010 the Festival was held over 5 days from July 7 - July 11 and was an extraordinary celebration of community and song. It featured over sixty events including sell-out concerts at St David's Cathedral and the Federation Concert Hall. Our guest artists included Grammy award-winner and gospel star Myron Butler with musical partner Timberlyn Butler, opera specialist Simon Kenway, a cappella star from San Francisco, Austin Willacy, and Australia's own youth specialist Lyn Williams with Dan Walker from Gondwana Voices. The workshop program extended over 5 days and all adult major workshops were accredited through the University of Tasmania. Concerts large and small happened across the city and the streets of Hobart were alive with singing. We thank everyone who participated in the Festival as singers, choirs, audiences, sponsors, supporters and volunteers. The Festival employs only two part-time staff so our specialists and volunteers are wholly responsible for the delivery of this joyful event. Thank you all.
The Festival is a lead event in the winter Lumina campaign and proudly supported by Events Tasmania, Tourism Tasmania, Arts Tasmania and the Department of Economic Development.
