Festival of Voices

    Singers’ Lounge & Choir Lounge

Experience the heart of Festival of Voices

Enjoy what many consider the heart of Festival of Voices in Hobart: the Singers’ Lounge. Due to its popularity, we’re excited to introduce a complementary space: the Choir Lounge, expanding the Festival’s after-hours live music experience at Salamanca Arts Centre. Both spaces come alive each night with scheduled performances and open mic-style singing, alongside a sense of camaraderie and creativity. Together, they celebrate the joy and unique experience of Festival of Voices, with the addition of the Choir Lounge offering a more intimate setting to slow down and listen deeply.

Whether you’re performing, cheering others on or simply soaking up the live music, you’ll leave with unforgettable memories and a sense of something larger than yourself.

Don’t just hear about it; experience it. We’re ready to welcome you!

    Introducing The Choir Lounge

Experience the vibrant after-hours magic of Festival of Voices at the Singers’ Lounge. Nestled in Salamanca Arts Centre’s Long Gallery, the Singers’ Lounge is more than just a venue – it’s where the Festival comes alive with music, camaraderie and creativity.

Each evening features captivating performances by talented artists and choirs, and as the night unfolds, the stage transforms into an open-mic haven. Whether you’re an experienced performer debuting new material or someone testing their voice in front of an audience for the first time, this is your moment. Add your name to the blackboard list and step into a welcoming space that celebrates courage, connection, and community.

The Singers’ Lounge isn’t just about the performances – it’s about the stories. In 2025, we saw acclaimed professionals such as The Velvetones and The Australian Voices return to share their artistry in this unique space. Equally moving were the heartfelt moments from first-time performers who found the confidence to say, “This is the first time I’ve ever shared a song I wrote”, or “I never thought I’d sing solo in front of an audience.” These experiences embody the Singers’ Lounge spirit: a place where music unites and inspires.

What makes the Singers’ Lounge truly special is its all-in-it-together atmosphere. Here, the lines between professional and amateur dissolve, and everyone – whether on stage or in the audience – becomes part of the magic. It’s a space that feels distinctly Tasmanian, with an emphasis on connection, inclusivity, and shared experiences.

We’re excited to also introduce the Choir Lounge – a sister space located in the Founders Room on the top floor of Salamanca Arts Centre – designed to broaden the Singers’ Lounge experience!

It’s a space where every note resonates, every harmony inspires, and every listener becomes part of the experience.

In the Choir Lounge, you’re invited to slow down, listen deeply and immerse yourself in the artistry of ensemble singing. Feel the connection through harmony – where every breath, blend and phrase can be felt. Sit back, tune in and let the music speak.

The Choir Lounge celebrates the collective spirit of Festival of Voices while offering something new: a space to listen deeply and discover the power of the human voice in harmony.

Nights in Singers’ Lounge and Choir Lounge aren’t events – they’re at the heart of the Festival’s identity. We invite you to immerse yourself in a community that celebrates music and belonging. Whether you’re performing, cheering others on, or simply soaking up the energy, you’ll leave with unforgettable memories and a sense of something larger than yourself.

Don’t just hear about it; experience it. We’re waiting to welcome you.
