PRAISE, PROTEST and PURPOSE | Eric Dozier
Event Type:
Venue:
Like many gospel greats, Eric cut his teeth playing piano at his Baptist church before developing and growing a music style characterized by intricate harmonies, stylized arrangements and spirited lyrics, a musical elixir the new York Times found “rousing”. African American Spirituals reflect the duality of joy and sorrow, hopes and fears, personal struggles and dreams. They hold hidden messages about resistance and escape and continue to this day to testify to the resilience of the human spirit. This workshop is an interactive hands-on exploration into the heart of these folk hymns.
It’s Down'n'Dirty Blues. Sanctified Gospel. Old-time Country. Grinding Rock.
It was once said that good music comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable. Eric’s music will have you pondering which side you fall on.
This workshop also includes:
- Free entry into Aperitivo Concert Series - 5 one-hour concerts featuring visiting choirs (subject to capacity)
