SPECIAL PROJECT | FoV - Youth Choir

SPECIAL PROJECT | FoV - Youth Choir

Event Type:

Workshop
Thursday 22 March - Saturday 14 July

This is a fantastic opportunity for younger local school and community choirs, to participate in Festival of Voices. We invite local schools, grades 5-8 to get involved.

What it involves: Learning some great songs and joining together with other local schools.  We ask teachers and choir leaders to rehearse during their school music time 4  - 5 works. FoV will bring everyone together for a rehearsal and then a grand performance on Saturday 14th of July. The repertoire will include at least 2 new works by Tasmanian composers, guaranteed to provide great enjoyment for singers and can be used later in the year for individual school and community choir concerts.

Timeline: Interested teachers meet for a workshop on Thursday 22 March, 4.00-5.30 pm. ( Venue TBC),  to sing through proposed repertoire, and have some input in the final choice of works. Music will then be sent by email to each choir, it will state the number of copies each choir is permitted to copy. Teachers/Conductors will then teach the songs to their own choirs up until the first combined rehearsal which will be in early in July. A final rehearsal plan will be distributed on 22 March: it is not anticipated that rehearsals will be held in school time, and will be kept to a minimum.

Registration fees: Naturally, for Festival of Voices to undertake such an event, running costs have to be considered: a nominal fee of $200 per choir will be required to assist with the purchase of music, license fees and other production costs. At this stage, there is not a limit on the number of singers per choir).
